Alan Sked was a prize-wining student at the University of Glasglow before going on to Oxford University to take his D. Phil. under the supervision of world-famous historian A.J.P Taylor.
In 1972, he was appointed Lecturer in International History at LSE before completing his doctoral thesis and retired from there as full professor in 2015.
He is now Emeritus Professor of International History in the deptartment.
